The Sketchbook Project 2012

Never heard of The Sketchbook Project? Well why not. It's a genious idea! Basically, anyone can sign up to the project whether you're an artist, student, teacher, business man - anyone. Arthouse will post out a sketchbook to you, fill it up with sketches, watercolours, textiles, acrylics - any medium you like. When it's finished, post it back to Arthouse and viola, it becomes part of a library of sketchbooks. The library goes on a worldwide tour and then ends up in a library in New York for anyone and everyone to see. How amazing is that?!

So the 2012 submission is currently on tour and is in London now until this Friday, 19th October 2012. I went down for a nosy this weekend at Canada Water library.

I thought this drawing was beautiful. I think it's watercolour pencils. I must have had a slightly shakey hand taking this photo but because of the nature of the drawing it just adds to it. (I think so anyway :) )

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who came to see me (and buy!) at Great Northern last weekend. Thank you for your support. I had a wonderful time and met some lovely people including my wonderful stand neighbours for the week.

I have just about recovered and caught up on some sleep! It has been a slightly more relaxed week but with lots of emails and exciting things J (around my other job!)

Hello London....

I have more news for you...

I have a new job! I shall be moving to London at the end of August to become a Visual Merchandising Stylist on Oxford Street! This is an amazing opportunity! Although it's still retail based, it is a creative role which I'm sure I will love. What little VM I have done so far I have really enjoyed and I hope that it will open lots of new doors for me down the line :)

So wish me luck!!

No fear though, I'll be continuing with Sarah-Jane Embroidery alongside my fab new job :)

Sample 12

A couple of weeks back I went along to the Sample 12 Degree Show at the University of Huddersfield where the remainder of my classmates (the ones who did placement years unlike me) were exhibiting their final projects. What a vast array of talent!
